Course description

Hypnotherapy is the study of the unconscious mind, it enables the illumination of perceived problems that enable individuals, organisations and communities to flourish and thrive. There is considerable interest worldwide in Hypnotherapy and its application in work, professional and personal settings.

The Diploma of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy is the first such course in Australia. This program combines a rigourous theoretical foundation with real-world practical applications, and integrates evidence-based psychotherapy methodologies with Hypnotherapy. This program is taught by recognised leaders in the area of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.

Successful completion of this course will give you:

1. Dr Michael Yapko - Specialises in the treatment of Depression using cutting edge techniques in Hypnosis. US based but coming to Australian to join our faculty! (Dr Michael Yapko's text book is used in most courses of Hypnotherapy, and is considered by many to be the best hypnotherapist in the world).
2. Gordon Young - Specialises in the treatment of Anxiety, Stress and Advanced and Rapid Hypnotic Techniques. Current President of the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists (acts as part of the consultative process with State and Federal Government in regarding Hypnotherapy) and Graduate of the Prestigious Milton Erickson Foundation in Phoenix Arizona. Editor of the Australian Journal of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis.
3. Lyndall Briggs  - Specialises in Addictions, and acts as part of the consultative process with State and Federal Government regarding the future of Hypnotherapy in Australia. Lyndall is the Vice-President of the Council of Clinical Hypnotherapists, the peak of body of Hypnotherapy in Australia. Lyndall is a third- generation Hypnotherapist and Vice President of the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists.
4. Dr Rob McNeilly - Specialises in Solution Oriented Processes, is a Medical Doctor and one of the few students of the legendary Milton Erickson and long term colleague of Dr Michael Yapko.
5. Dr Lindsay Duncan - Specialises in the method of Private Sub-Conscious Healing. Registered Psychologist and accomplished author of Gremlins of the Mind (considered by many in the industry to be the best book on hypnotherapy ever written in Australia). Former Editor of the Australian Journal of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis.
6. Rowan Hanley - Lifeline trainer and counsellor, who specialises in crisis counselling and intervention.
7. Janine Fraser - Counsellor, Hypnotherapist and Registrar of the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapist. Janine specialised in the trance-personal area of Counselling and Hypnotherapy, and brings in a strong spiritual element to her work. 

The combination of expertise and experience on our faculty will allow you to graduate with a level of skill and experience that no other course will offer you. All our faculty members specialise in different areas of Hypnotherapy which will give you a wider context than just a regular Hypnotherapy course.

Your Time Commitment

New industry guidelines require 450 hours of training. This includes face to face training, online tutorials, supervision, assigned reading and assignments.

Of this 450 hours there is a total of 140 hours of face to face training (equivalent of 20 days) where you can acquire the type of practical skills and experience you need to run your own practice.

Your 20 Days of Face to Face Training

Format:
Commences with an 7 day Intensive Induction for complete immersion in to a new way of approaching the world, followed by 6 Weekend Modules spaced out 5 months (every third week) + weekly Wednesday night supervision 7.30-9pm


Two Strands:

1) Hypnotherapy - Prior learning may be accepted
2) Psychotherapy - Counsellors, psychologists and social workers may receive an exemption for this strand

Our diploma is designed for busy people. We understand how hard it is, and we want to give you every opportunity to get qualified quickly whilst not compromising your training.


Recognition for Prior Learning

If you have prior training in counselling or psychotherapy you might only have to complete the Hypnotherapy Strand to gain your Diploma of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. If you are already a psychologist, counsellor or social worker you will get an exemption of 100 hours (30 hours face to face)

Building your own Private Practice?

Marketing and building your own practice, along with important legislative considerations is included in your training. You will learn how to confidently earn a minimum of $60,000, and up to$100,000 a year, working just 3 days a week.

2) Which directories to be listed

3) How to create an effective website - we can even build your website!

Post Graduate Support?

Student Clinic & Supervision:

Student Clinic - affords you the opportunity to watch real therapeutic sessions with real clients as they occur. You also get an chance to debrief with your lecturer after the session.       

Ongoing Supervision - Graduates can, as part of their internship, choose one of our lecturers as their supervisor to review cases, discuss treatment possibilities, and assist with business development. All interns are expected to complete at least 20 hours of supervision in their first year of practice.
